         Do you need permission to Scatter Ashes on the Thames?

It is perfectly legal to scatter ashes on the River Thames in the UK. You do not need to seek permission to conduct an ashes scattering on the River Thames.

How long does an Ashes Scattering boat trip take?

We offer a full hours hire of our vintage motor boats for a River Thames ashes scattering service. If the service is shorter than an hour then we can continue on a tranquil river cruise following the ceremony, allowing the family time to reflect and remember in calm & peaceful surroundings.

Do I need a biodegradable urn?

Many of our clients choose to gently scatter the ashes of a loved one directly into the River Thames from an urn, with this method only the ashes are entering the Thames and not the urn. If you would like to place an urn in the water then the urn must be fully biodegradable. Other biodegradable materials such as flower petals are also permitted.

Where will the Ashes Scattering service take place?

The majority of our River Thames Ashes Scattering Cruises start from our moorings at Bray Marina - just a 10 minute drive from central Windsor and 15 minute drive from Slough. This location offers complimentary parking right next to the boat and is in close proximity to Junction 8/9 of the M4 and Maidenhead Train Station with direct routes to the Elizabeth Line. Once boarding at Bray Marina we will take a short 10 minute cruise to a suitable location on the River Thames to scatter the ashes where there is flowing water. The Bray stretch of the River Thames offers a countryside landscape, is peaceful, calm and away from the tourists you may find in central Windsor - making it an ideal location for an ashes scattering ceremony. We can also offer a Windsor ashes scattering.

Can my Ashes Scattering boat trip still take place if it rains?

Yes our luxury boats can operate in all weathers, offering fully enclosed indoor areas with seating and central heating. We can even put blankets onboard during the winter months.

What time will the Ashes Scattering Cruise take place?

We offer ashes scattering cruises daily from 9am to sunset, throughout the year (including Winter). You are welcome to book a time of your choice, subject to availability.

How many people can attend a memorial cruise?

Our boats are licensed to carry a maximum of 12 passengers. You are also welcome to bring your own priest onboard,

Can we play music aboard the boat when we Scatter Ashes on the Thames?

Bluetooth speakers are available aboard our boats. You are welcome to play music at a background level.

Can you conduct Pet Ashes Scatterings aboard your boat?

Yes you can conduct a Pet Ashes Scattering on the River Thames aboard our boats. Please note items like collars etc cannot be scattered into the water.
